概述

The Power Output Modules (POMs) are an essential component ofthe SIPLUS HCS4200 heating control system.
Up to 24 Power Output Modules can be operated on one CentralInterface Module (CIM), split over 2 racks.

There are 4 Power Output Module versions:

  • POM4220 Lowend

  • POM4220 Midrange phase control

  • POM4220 Highend

  • POM4220 Flexible

Power Output Module POM4220 Lowend
  • 16 outputs for switching resistive loads.

  • Rated voltage 230 V AC

  • A current of up to 6.3 A can be used per output.

  • The two phases and neutral conductor are connected via a 3-pinconnector (mating connectors are included in the scope ofdelivery).

  • The heat emitters are connected via two 8-pin connectors (matingconnectors are included in the scope of delivery).

  • One fuse per output for supply circuit.

  • Module simply slides into the rack.

  • Heat dissipation via an optional fan module at the top of therack (for 4 POM4220).

  • Attachment is with one screw at the bottom and another one atthe top.

  • Three diagnostics LEDs for displaying module faults.

  • Sixteen diagnostics LEDs for displaying errors at theoutputs.

  • 12 outputs for switching resistive loads.

  • Rated voltage 230 V AC and 277 V AC

  • A current of up to 16 A can be used per output.

  • The heat emitters are connected via two 6-pin connectors (matingconnectors are included in the scope of delivery).

  • Heat dissipation via an optional fan module at the top of therack (for 4x POM4220).

  • Twelve diagnostics LEDs for displaying errors at the outputs

  • Rated voltage 230 V AC, 277 V AC, 400 V AC and 480 V AC

  • A current of up to 20 A can be used per output.

  • The heat emitters are connected via two 4-pin connectors (matingconnectors are included in the scope of delivery).

  • Eight diagnostics LEDs for displaying errors at the outputs.

Control modes

Power Output Module POM4220 Lowend and POM4220 Flexible

  • Half-wave control:
    This is the control type in normal operation. At every zerocrossover, the output is controlled depending on the parameterizedsetpoint value. The controller outputs are set in values from 0 to.

Power Output Module POM4220 Midrange phase control

  • Half-wave control:
    This is the control type in normal operation. At every zerocrossover, the output is controlled depending on the parameterizedsetpoint value. The control variable is set to values between 0 and.

  • Soft start:
    Phase control is executed for a limited time in order to achieve agradual warming of the heating elements (e.g. for shortwaveinfrared sources). Switches to half-wave control when the time hasexpired. The control variable is set to values between 0 and .
    Various soft start versions are available for selection:

    • Version 1: Time-optimized version of the soft start that enablesthe heating elements to be warmed up very quickly.
      The time required for one channel is about 500 ms.

    • Version 2: Slower version of the soft start that ensures theheating element is not unduly loaded.
      The time required for one channel is about 2 s.

  • Phase control:
    Phase control is executed permanently in order to achieve even heatdissipation and avoid disruptive emitter flickering with lowsetpoints. Phase control can sometimes cause EMC interference onthe power supply lines which then has to be filtered on the systemside.

    Adaptive soft start: During the adaptive soft start the phaseangle is adapted to the existing heating element during runtime toavoid fuse triggering but to achieve the highest possible startingspeed. The duration of the soft start is therefore dependent on theheating element being used.

    Please note: Short-wave halogen or infrared emitters,so-called flash emitters, have a high switch-on current due totheir relatively low cold resistance. This switch-on current can bea multiple of the rated current especially during the initialhalf-waves. This can lead to the fuse being triggered. There is alimit to a switching capacity of 750 W when using flashemitters at 230 V.

    Switching capacity per Power Output Module: Max. 16100 W at230 V

      12 power outputs of 230 V/277 V each (6 outputs perphase)

      Switching capacity per output: Max. 3680 W at 230 V or4432 W at 277 V.

This switch-on current can bea multiple of the rated current especially during the initialhalf-waves. This can lead to the fuse being triggered. There is alimit to a switching capacity of 1600 W when using flashemitters at 230 V.

      Switching capacity per Power Output Module: max. 23,000 Wat 230 V or 27,700 W at 277 V.

        8 power outputs of 230 V/277 V or 400 V/480 V each (4outputs per phase)

        Switching capacity per output: max. 4600 W at 230 V, 5540 W at277 V, 8000 W at 400 V at 9600 W at 480 V.

      Switching capacity per output: max. 720 W at 45 V, 1120 W at 70V, 1760 W at 110 V, 3680 W at 230 V or 4432 W at 277 V.

    Ventilation

      A fan module can be optionally mounted at the top of the rack sothat 4 POMs can be ventilated and controlled dependent on theinternal temperature.

    Temperature monitoring

      An NTC thermistor is installed in the device to monitor theinternal temperature. An alarm threshold is defined for theinternal temperature. The following reactions are triggered whenthe threshold is overshot:

      Signal to the higher-level controller.

      The outputs are deactivated - regardless of which outputresponse was configured for the error.

    Diagnostic options

    Implicit diagnostics functions are provided as standard todetect the following faults (diagnostics cycle does not affect theheating power):

      Leading fuse defective / triac at high resistance (exception:setpoint value 0%).

      Triac failure (exception: setpoint value ).

      Connecting cable defective (short-circuit and interruption) orload is defective (short-circuit and interruption)

      Additionally for POM4220 Highend: Connecting cable defective(short-circuit and interruption) or load is defective(short-circuit and interruption) with heating elements connected inparallel and residual current too high.
