Wuhan FEDEX FedEx's SenseAwareservice has been further expanded in the transportation ofsensitive goods and extended to airlines and other internationalmarkets outside its network.
SenseAware is a device based onmultiple sensors, mainly used for the transportation of extremelyimportant or high-value items. It can transmit importantinformation at any time, such as the location of the goods,temperature, and potential issues (such as exposure). This servicecan also provide near real-time information throughout the supplychain.
The SenseAware service waslaunched in 2009 and has only been used within the United States todate. According to the plan, the service will be launched for thefirst time in Canada, the United Kingdom, Australia, and Singapore,and it is expected that more markets will follow suit.
At the same time, SenseAwareservices will also be open to other transportation companies astransportation carriers. More air and ground transportationoperators outside the FedEx network, including Delta Airlines,Southwest Airlines, United Airlines, and some third-party groundoperators, can enjoy this service in accordance with relevantregulations.
In addition, the latest productof FedEx, SenseAware 2000, has undergone technological upgrades(including improved GPS technology, improved informationconnectivity, and extended battery life), allowing customers toreceive more accurate real-time positioning information. The newproduct's e is suitable for temperature probes with ameasurement range between -80 ° C and 60 ° C.
Another new feature of thisproduct is the provision of a "route geographic defense" functionfor ground transportation. Customers can create a geographicdefense setting based on the actual route, and once thetransportation route deviates from the predetermined route, anotification warning can be issued. In addition, when the goods donot appear on a certain road section at the specified time, thetrigger can also issue an alarm or notify the customer to check ifthe goods have deviated from the progress in someaspects.
FedEx stated that SenseAware isa contractual service that does not require additionalinfrastructure support or commitment to hosting services, and isapplicable to the transportation of individual goods or largepallet shipments.
